How do I care for a sheepskin coat?

I got a virgin sheepskin coat second hand, and it is a great coat, but it is old and the person who owned it before me didn't care for it. As a result it keeps tearing and I keep having to sew it back up. Is there a special treatment that I can use to restore the strength and suppleness of the skin?

Answer:
* Send it to a professional leather cleaner; they use neutral laundry detergents to wash garment. Then finish garment with an oil treatment to soften the skin.

* Note -Woolwash or neutral detergents will clean but harden the skin by removing the skins natural oils.

Good Luck!!
