Is there any way to restore my sheepskin to its softness and get rid of the clumps?

I have a sheepskin pad and the material is "clumpy" Is there any way to restore the fluff to it? Its not really clumpy but the material is cumped together in sections. I want to get rid of the clumps. Is there any way to fix this problem or dose it natually happen with sheepskin?

Answer:
Hopefully it is not matted too tight. Stiff brush similar to dog brushes that have the spikes in it. Work at the ends with the wire brush and in a small area at a time. Once it is 'unmatted', the stiffness will have softened.

Talcom powder WITH corn starch works very well on Alpaca to be brushed thru for cleaner & keep it softer - - this may help on sheepskin. I only know the for sure on 'cleaning' up the clumps.
