Will a sheepskin half pad affect the fit of my saddle?

Hi I love the sheepskin half pads, however, can I use one as a fashion accessory? My horse has a well fitting saddle so would a pad affect this? I would use the pad under the saddle with a saddlecloth underneath. Is there an alternative if it will affect the fit of my saddle or can you get thinner pads. Sorry there are so many questions!

Answer:
Yes, it will affect the fit of your saddle. Half pads are typically used if the saddle you are currently riding in has a tree that is too big for your current horse. You can put a halfpad ontop of a saddle pad in order to try and take up some 'space' in order to try and get a better fit. On the other hand, if your saddle fits your horse correctly or is too narrow, adding a half pad will increase your horse's uncomfortable level (if that makes sense?).

There are different half pads out there for different purposes (I especially like the memory foam half pad in which compresses down to 1/4" inch thick in the appropriate areas [Ogilvy Equestrian makes these half pads]). If you are apt on using a half pad for a fashion statement, I would suggest getting one of the fleeceworks half pads (not the really thick one) and using it with a baby pad.
