It there a method for whitening a sheepskin rug?
I washed a small rug and it came out beautifully. The large one was yellowed, and now looks terrible and nearly brown at the tips of the fur. It is still drying, but I would like to know how I could whiten it?
Answer: You should take it to a reputable dry cleaner. Since sheep skin is an animal product, washing extracts all the natural oils from the skin, causing it to become brittle.
A good dry cleaner will know how to properly care for your rug.
